Even Traffic...

...can be beautiful (thank you Stephanie).

I am amazed how we can experience the same moments day in, day out and not really "see" them...their simple beauty. Sometimes as artists, we spend so much energy searching for that "beautiful" composition, subject, landscape...and then sometimes (as is most often the case for me)...it finds us.

Beautiful picture! I so often see a sky that needs to be painted, but I don't have the skill to put it on canvas. You have a wonderful eye!

Beautifully painted and well written! I love the sunset and the lights, traffic has never looked so serene and lovely. Beautifully written post.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and insight on Male 1.

What a beautiful glow. The trees are soft and subtle, yet such anchors. Usually I roll my eyes at sunrise/sunset paintings. b/c they're not too believable, but this one is. Great job at not being cliche.

What surface did you use? Wonderful texture.

Thank you all for your comments!

Bonnie, I used a scrap piece of mauve paper out of the Dakota Sampler pack. I don't usually work on paper, but the surface color was exactly what I needed.

I highly recommend the sampler packs from Dakota for anyone starting in pastel. Surface tooth, texture, color are so varied with pastel papers and will handle differently depending on the painter's pastel application style.

Ariel,

There seems to be a moment when the truth of nature is revealed. You are right. We miss the obvious and then when it is revealed we wonder why we haven't seen it before. Could it be that it was not time for the revelation?

I love your blogs and the comments that others make.
